J. Douglas McCarthy Recognized on VA Pro Bono Honor Roll for Five Years in a Row

WINCHESTER, Virginia – McCarthy & Akers, PLC is thrilled to announce that Co-Founder and Partner J. Douglas McCarthy has been officially recognized as a “Pro Bono Service Honor Roll” member by the Virginia Access to Justice Commission for the fifth consecutive year.

This recognition, formally communicated to Doug on May 11, 2026, celebrates his dedication to providing voluntary pro bono legal services during the 2024 to 2025 bar year. Acknowledging these efforts is a critical step in improving the pro bono culture throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Doug’s dedication to serving the community extends far beyond his daily practice in estate planning. A proud Winchester native, Doug grew up on a family farm that has been in his family for over 180 years. He brings that same deep-rooted community focus to his legal work, continually seeking creative problem-solving methods to help local families and businesses succeed and thrive.

To celebrate these meaningful contributions to equal access to justice, Doug and his fellow Honor Roll members were recognized as a group at the Chief Justice’s Pro Bono Summit on June 11, 2026, hosted at the Supreme Court of Virginia in Richmond.
