McCarthy & Akers, PLC Announces The Promotion Of Two Key Employees

WINCHESTER, Virginia—Douglas McCarthy and Matthew Akers, attorneys and partners at McCarthy & Akers, PLC, proudly announce the promotion of two key employees to leadership positions in their estate planning, elder law, and real estate law firm.

Daniel has been a valued member of the McCarthy & Akers team since January 2021. During his initial year with the firm, he contributed as a closing agent in the Real Estate division, demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail in his role. His dedication and competence earned him additional responsibilities within the Real Estate Department. In 2022, he was promoted to Director of Estate Planning, where he spearheaded the department’s expansion initiative.

Daniel implemented streamlined processes, enhancing both efficiency and client satisfaction. His efforts led to significant improvements in the estate planning process. Recognizing his leadership abilities, he was further promoted to the position of COO in the Fall of 2023. In this capacity, he is entrusted with the ongoing enhancement of internal operations and the overall client experience at McCarthy & Akers.

Matteo Stocco is a native of Winchester, Virginia. From a young age, he worked at his family’s fine dining establishment in Old Town Winchester, gaining invaluable experience in high-level customer service and a team-oriented work environment. He pursued his education through a combination of homeschooling, attending Classical Cottage School and enrolling in courses at the local community college. This diverse educational background culminated in his attainment of a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia.

During his senior year, Matteo accepted the opportunity to further his professional development by accepting a paid internship with McCarthy & Akers, PLC. This experience provided him with firsthand exposure to the intricacies of legal practice, particularly in the realm of estate planning. Following his graduation from college, Matteo transitioned seamlessly into a role as a Legal Assistant at McCarthy & Akers, PLC, where he assisted the Director of Estate Planning with the meticulous preparation and finalization of documents. Demonstrating his exceptional aptitude and dedication, Matteo was quickly promoted to the position of Director of Estate Planning, a role in which he leverages his excellent customer service skills to ensure that clients feel welcomed and well-cared-for throughout the estate planning process.
